What Is PGx?
It can help identify:
- Who may be at increased risk of toxicity at a standard dose
- Who may not get the desired benefit
- Who may benefit from a different drug or an adjusted dose
The Urgent Need
Every year, more than 100,000 Americans die from adverse drug events that are largely preventable.1 Hundreds of thousands more are hospitalized.2 Billions of dollars are spent on harm that the right test — before the first prescription — could help reduce.3
The science exists. Pioneering clinicians around the globe have spent years proving it works. The question is no longer whether PGx-informed prescribing outperforms the “standard dose and monitor” approach. The question is how quickly this will become standard of care for every patient.
Global PGx Day is May 20, 2026 — an annual rallying point for everyone committed to making precision prescribing the standard, not the exception.
